'The Amazing Spider-Man 2" movie review

I never dug Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. Tobey is a fine actor, sure, but as a superhero? I just couldn't get past that scratchy, high pitched voice of his. And his frame is so tiny. He's too short.

Fast forward to Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spiderman reboot from 2012. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Garfield is an excellent choice for Spider-Man.

And now I've just watched The Amazing Spider-Man 2. How is it? Decent. Not great. It's too long. Jamie Foxx as the emotional villain desperate for companionship and attention Electro seemed odd to me. Sometimes there was a bit too much joking around by Spidey. In superhero movies, a little comedy goes a long way. It's easy to overdo it.

But what saves this movie is the chemistry b/w Garfield and Emma Stone. They are so cute together. It's no wonder that they're a couple IRL! Garfield and Stone play off each other perfectly. Stone is a real winner in this role. She comes off as smart, funny, and down-to-earth; just an all around cool ass chick who you want to wife up! Love her in this movie. Love her and Garfield in the movie and IRL!

When it comes to superhero movies, I love origin stories. How does the teenage superhero deal with his newfangled powers? I find that stuff truly compelling. But after the origin story, when they become super badass and own every enemy that gets in their way with little effort, I get bored of the storyline quickly.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 sort of falls into this predictable lull, but Stone and Garfield ultimately make the movie redeemable and a joy to watch.
