Police arrested a felon on two contempt warrants totaling $1 million last night. Thirty-five-year-old Amery Kahale-Sugimura was arrested in Waianae on a petty misdemeanor drug charge. Police checked and discovered he had two contempt warrants, each for $500,000. An Oahu grand jury indicted Kahale-Sugimura, also known as Jon Edward Dudoit, on 15 charges stemming from a home invasion robbery that ended when the suspect was shot by officers after allegedly trying to run them over in a stolen truck in Aiea. Kahale-Sugimura was out on bail October 29 when he allegedly assaulted a 68-year-old Aiea man and tried to get away in the man's truck, striking two officers.
