Hawaii Remembers 9/11 Victims
Posted Wednesday, September 11th 2013 @ 3pm

Hawaii residents are today remembering those who died in the September 11th terrorist attacks 12 years ago. There are several events scheduled throughout the state.  At noon, Governor Neil Abercrombie and Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell joined first responders and others for a ceremony at Tamarind Park in downtown Honolulu.  On Maui, a memorial took place at 8:30 a.m. at the Westin Kaanapali Resort.  Participants paddled out into the ocean scattering nearly 3,000 blossoms -- one for each victim of the attacks.  Governor Neil Abercrombie also ordered all flags across the state to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset to observe the anniversary of the attacks.
