Land Board Defers Decision on Telescopes
Posted Saturday, November 9th 2013 @ 8am

The state Land Board Friday deferred a decision on the University of Hawaii's request to extend leases that allow telescopes on Mauna Kea for another 45 years, through 2078. The state Board of Land and Natural Resources heard testimony on the request yesterday but had to defer the decision due to a loss of quorum. The university wants to extend leases for more than 11,000 acres.
