House and Senate leaders are expecting the Abercrombie administration to review a grant awarded to a nonprofit with which State Representative Rida Cabanilla has close ties. The Ewa Historical Society received a $100,000 grant to be used for maintaining the Ewa Plantation Cemetery. It was discovered after the grant was awarded, that Cabanilla essentially controls the nonprofit. Cabanilla said yesterday she hopes her close ties the nonprofit do not jeopardize the release of the money. House leaders have said Cabanilla should distance herself from the nonprofit. She said she is looking for others to get involved.
