Police Highest-Paid Public Employees in State

Hawaii's police officers are the highest-paid public employees in the state.That's according to a West Hawaii Today analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data released Thursday, which showed that a full-time officer in March 2011 earned an average of about $6,700. In that same month, university professors made an average of about $6,500 and firefighters earned an average of about $6,400. The information shows that Hawaii's lowest-paid public workers were support personnel at public schools who earned about $2,107 that month.
