Two people died in separate pedestrian accidents on Oahu Tuesday. Paramedics said they took a 60-year-old man to a trauma center in extremely critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Kamehameha Highway just after 9 p.m. Tuesday in Kalihi. He died at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in the hospital. Police say he was in a marked crosswalk on Kamehameha Highway near Middle Street, but was crossing when the pedestrian light said "don't walk." The driver of the car was not injured. At 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, a 49-year-old woman backing out of a private road in the 600 block of N. Vineyard Blvd, hit a 60-year-old pedestrian who lives in the area. An ambulance took him in critical condition to the hospital, where he died. The driver faces possible third-degree negligent homicide charges.
