A vegetable and herb farm in Waipahu is agreeing to settle a U.S. Department of Labor complaint. Fat Law's Farm will pay its workers more than $430,000 in back wages and penalties to settle the claim. The farm was accused of violating the Fair Labor Standards Act by paying its employees only $5 an hour, withholding overtime pay and not keeping proper employment records. The Pacific Alliance to Stop Slavery became aware of the situation and urged federal authorities to investigate.
